Expand your knowledge of aromatherapy and essential oils with good quality reference books, e-books, and magazines.

There are so many ways to learn about essential oils and aromatherapy. I would recommend having one or two good resource books in your library as a first step on the road to optimum health. To get access to good information quickly, via the internet, why not have a read of the Aromatherapy and Natural Health e-books. Of course, a magazine subscription means that you'll be getting new natural health ideas regularly, I've listed some of my favorites below.

Aromatherapy/Essential Oil Books

Here is my short list of recommended and useful aromatherapy and essential oil books to further expand your knowledge. They are listed in my favorite order. (In association with Amazon.com for quick, reliable service - and discount prices!)

  • The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy - by Valerie Ann Worwood
My personal favorite: this book prescribes essential oils for everything from basic first aid and treating common ailments to natural cosmetics and body care, physical and mental health, fragrance for the home and office, and cooking with essential oils. A good addition to alternative medicine collections. It gives more than 500 recipes using essential oils as alternatives to often toxic human-made health, beauty, and cleaning products.
  • Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy

  • Complete Aromatherapy Handbook: Essential Oils for Radiant Health - by Susanne Fischer-Rizzi
When essential oils are put in a lamp, inhaled, applied to the skin, placed in bathwater, or even taken orally, a person can feel relaxed, energized, or uplifted. In this beautifully illustrated book, a holistic practitioner describes the history and physiological basis of aromatherapy, tells how to extract and store the oils, and gives detailed information on 27 of the most important essential oils, including their dosages and beneficial effects.

Natural Health, Aromatherapy and Essential Oil Magazines

As the use of aromatherapy is really about nurturing the body, mind and spirit, I’m recommending magazines that focus on overall natural health and that have with regular articles on general and every day uses of aromatherapy and essential oils instead of on magazines dedicated entirely to aromatherapy and essential oils.

    Body + Soul magazine
  • Body + Soul
Body and Soul, formerly New Age Journal, is one of America's most respected magazines covering holistic living. Each issue includes an exciting and thoughtful mix of features, columns, and departments that help readers explore new discoveries in natural health and wellness, personal growth, the environment, spirituality, and social change.
  • Total Health
Deals with health, covering body, mind and spirit. Emphasis on fitness, nutrition, skin and body care, mental and emotional health, a true preventive health care lifestyle magazine.
